Artificial Intelligence MSc

  • 1 years

Program Description

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly changing the way we live, work and learn. If you are looking to pursue a career in this booming field, this programme will give you the skills you need, as it is designed to maximise employability across a wide spectrum of industrial and academic posts related to AI. This MSc has been developed with the support of the Institute of Coding.

  • Work with the most up-to-date technologies - our teaching is backed up by our world-leading research centres and groups.
  • Develop systematic awareness of the current development of AI, themed around the most popular AI topics: games, robotics, vision, music and language.
  • Master practical machine and deep learning skills at the core of the programme and across all five AI topics.
  • Learn the principles for Ethical and Responsible Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, as well as their role in society.
  • Be taught by world-renowned academics and have regular contact with them throughout the programme.
  • Students on this programme full time may be eligible for the DeepMind Scholarship.

Places on this programme are limited. We will give equal consideration to all applications received by 4 July 2022. We may still accept applications received after this date, but will not be able to offer a place if the programme is full.

This MSc allows you to focus your studies and combine different AI topics to suit your personal requirements and future plans. Our world-class teaching, research and industrial contacts will support you as you understand fundamental AI concepts. You will study universal machine learning tools essential for any AI job profile, and specific practical and research skills on all five of the AI topics.

You will gain experience with cutting-edge tools such as Deep Neural Networks (DNN), Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN), and Deep Reinforcement Learning (Deep RL) via regular exercises and practical labs.

You will work closely with your lecturers and supervisors to carry out a major project on the AI topic that you want to specialise in.

The MSc Artificial Intelligence (AI) is structured in three different streams.

All students studying MSc Artificial Intelligence will study a set of compulsory modules that teach the fundamentals of probability, statistics, machine and deep learning, an overview of AI and how it fits in society, and ethics and regulations for the best approaches for AI and data science. Therefore, no matter the stream you choose, you’ll learn the following:

  • Probability and Statistics in the context of Analysis.
  • Machine Learning, Statistical Pattern Recognition, Neural Networks, Clustering, linear and non-linear Regression and Classification.
  • Deep Learning, Artificial and Convolutional Neural Networks.
  • Search methods, Evolutionary Computation, Computational Logic, Knowledge Representation and Reasoning.
  • AI in society, Ethics and regulations for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, main ethical issues and how they arise in automated systems and legal frameworks governing data usage.

Elective modules on this programme will be split into three educational streams. Each stream will offer you a range of specialised elective modules which are industry focussed and research-orientated.

During Welcome Week, you will be asked to choose one education stream of elective modules which you will choose according to your interests.

Structure

  • Four compulsory modules
  • Four elective modules under one educational stream
  • Compulsory 10,000-15,000 dissertation/final project
